Sometimes people come into your life for a split second but leave a lasting footprint. I came on board with Mairin & Owen for their commitment party just over a month before the big celebration. After meeting at a local coffee shop in Fells Point and getting to know this couple, I knew I wanted to share in making the day they commit to each other in front of all their friends & family absolutely perfect! Mairin & Owen met while working in El Salvador and after hearing their story I couldn’t help but notice the love & respect they have for each other.
About a week later Mairin and I met at the Pavilion to go over the set-up & design she had been working hard to create. Right away, it felt like we were on the same page and I could just envision the Pavilion lighting up. Before you knew it, I was pulling up to the venue with the rising of the sun to get started on making their vision a reality! Tables & chairs were set up, butcher paper was rolled & taped, and Mairin’s beautifully designed placemats were set. The rest of the table design consisted of palm leaf plates and flatware, a lavender napkin and the gift favor of a bookmark. The centerpieces were locally grown Strawberries from RoffTop HoT with twinkle lights scattered across the tablescape. We also threw in some bubbles and spray fans in case of a hot June day. Mairin & Owen showed up to take photos with Hans & Nicole Photography around the park as I was hanging the orange, white, and purple poofs around the Pavilion to add some more color for their festivities. Mairin looked absolutely beautiful in an outfit her mother sewed for her and some complimentary hair accessories and bracelet from Emma Katzka Bridal. As the guests started to arrive and the ceremony began, I really got a sense of just how special this couple was. Even though we had gone through all aspects of the ceremony beforehand seeing it in person gave you goosebumps! Mairin and her two girlfriends sang a song, family members participated in a Celtic handfasting ceremony, and Owen’s brother gave a memorable speech. They ended the ceremony with the breaking of the glass and of course a lovely kiss! The guests were then treated to an array of family-style cuisine, ice cream sandwiches, lawn games, and an afternoon to remember!
